Samalot Marine has been handling masts up to 65’ for over 25 yrs. Numerous transients traveling to and from the Erie and Lake Champlain Canals have used our professional services for stepping and unstepping their masts. We use a 15 ton P & H hydraulic crane with a 65’ boom and have vast experience with large and heavy rigs. We can also build cradles and load the mast on deck for travel through the canals.
George Samalot started his sailmaking career in City Island in the 70’s. He has over 35 years experience in this field. All repairs are done on premises in our sail loft.
Samalot Marine has a fully equipped rigging shop. We stock and swage wire from 1/8” to 9/32’ In House. We can replace a shroud, modify the backstay, make a whole new set of standing rigging, or new lifelines with gates. Our running rigging is also custom made with splicing done in house. We carry a large variety of cordage including the newer “exotic” large harken lazy jacklines.
We service all inboard engines and small outboards under 10 hp. Our mechanics are certified by Yanmar, Westerbeke, and Volvo and have worked on all brands of diesel engines.
